About Everywhen
Everywhen is a free website that shows day and night on a live world map, with the local time in more than 200 cities, a world clock, a meeting planner for people in different time zones, and a calm ambient mode for working or studying. It runs in the browser: there is nothing to install and no account to create.
What you can do with it
- The live map shows where the sun is up right now, drawn from the sun's real position, on a flat map or a 3D globe. Click a city for its local time, sunrise, sunset and day length.
- The world clock has a page for every city with its time zone, daylight saving dates, upcoming public holidays, a week of sunrise and sunset times and time differences with major cities.
- The meeting planner lines up the days of several cities so you can find the hours that suit everyone, then copy a link or add the meeting to your calendar.
- Ambient mode turns the map into a quiet screen with a large clock, a focus timer and soundscapes.
The interface is available in 20 languages.
Who makes it
Everywhen is designed and built by an independent developer in South Korea. It started as a small experiment, a world map drawn in dots that showed the time, and grew one feature at a time from people's questions about time zones, sunsets and meetings.
Where the data comes from
- Time zones and daylight saving time: the IANA time zone database, as built into your browser, so clocks follow each country's current rules.
- Sunrise, sunset and the day–night line: calculated from the sun's position with standard astronomical formulas (checked against a reference library to within a few minutes).
- Map shapes: Natural Earth, a public domain map data set.
- Public holidays: Nager.Date, an open public holiday database, with names translated for each language.
- Sounds: listed with their licenses on the sound credits page.
How the site is funded
Everywhen is free to use. To cover its costs it may show advertising from Google AdSense, and some pages may include clearly marked affiliate links. How advertising and analytics use cookies is explained in the privacy policy. You can also support the site directly through Buy Me a Coffee, from the settings.
